The habitat of this reserve has been fully restored to its natural state. Enjoy game drives here to explore the diverse wildlife and vegetation, and an array of bird species that inhabit these scenic hills, nestled in the Vredefort Dome.
Vredefort Dome International World Heritage Site – The largest and oldest meteorite impact structure on Earth and is the only land crater on Earth that is visible from space.
Chobe National Park & Chobe River – Chobe National Park, in northern Botswana has one of the largest concentrations of game in Africa with the migration of up to 50, 000 elephants annually.
Victoria Falls – Its combined width of 1,708 meters (5,604 ft.) and height of 108 meters (354 ft.), results in the world’s largest sheet of falling water. The falls are formed as the full width of the river plummets in a single vertical drop into a transverse chasm 1708 meters (5604 ft.) wide, carved by its waters along a fracture zone in the basalt plateau.
Zambezi River – The Zambezi is the fourth longest river in Africa and the longest east flowing river. The Zambezi River rises in Zambia and flows through eastern Angola, along the eastern border of Namibia and the northern border of Botswana, then along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe to Mozambique, where is crosses the country to be the largest African river to empty into the Indian Ocean.
Itinerary:
Day 1: ChaZen Private Nature Reserve Arrive in Johannesburg for your road transfer to ChaZen Private Nature Reserve. Embark on an afternoon game drive. Enjoy relaxing at the Safari Lodge.
Day 2: ChaZen Private Nature Reserve Enjoy a game drive and learn more about the Vredefort Dome International World Heritage Site with a geology presentation. Don’t miss the braai at the Safari Lodge where you can indulge in some local delicacies.
Day 3: ChaZen Private Nature Reserve & Parys Visit the ChaZen Nature Conservation & Educational Center. Explore the quaint little town of Parys for some shopping before returning to the Safari Lodge for an evening by the fire.
Day 4: Chobe National Park in Botswana Depart ChaZen and fly to Botswana. Stay in a lodge on the banks of the Chobe River. Enjoy boat cruises and game drives.
Day 5: Chobe National Park in Botswana Enjoy boat cruises and game drives near the Chobe River. Visit a local village for some shopping and viewing of local wares and handmade artefacts.
Day 6: Chobe National Park in Botswana Venture out on a game drive or boat cruise to enjoy more of the Chobe River area.
Day 7: Victoria Falls & Zambezi River Arrive in the town of Victoria Falls. Enjoy a sun-downer cruise on the Zambezi River.
Day 8: Victoria Falls Take in the splendor of Victoria Falls. Explore the falls by helicopter and on foot with a guided walk.
Day 9: ChaZen Private Nature Reserve Depart Victoria Falls and head back to base camp at ChaZen. Upon arrival prepare for an Ambassador Predator Walk and an afternoon game drive.
Day 10: ChaZen Private Nature Reserve Enjoy game drives and the Safari Lodge for your final night in the Free State.
